“The Lord says to every one of you, “My son, give Me thine heart.” He sees your disorders. He knows that your soul is diseased with sin, and He desires to say to you, “Thy sins are forgiven.” The Great Physician has a remedy for every ill. He understands your case. Whatever may have been your errors, He knows how to deal with them. Will you not trust yourself to Him?” – Our Father Cares, p 40.

Sometimes it can seem like your personal shortcomings own you.  You know you have a problem, but it’s so hard to find a way past, and you’re not sure what to do.  Maybe it’s an addiction, a pattern of poor decisions, relationship issues, or whatever. Maybe you always blamed other people for the problem, and just found out it was you this whole time.  Your fatal flaw has the upper hand, and you can’t seem to break free.

It can seem like there’s no hope, but there is.

God knows us, and he has a way for us to break through.

1 Corinthians 10:13
No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.

There is a way out.  God can heal your problem, whatever it is.  It might take some straight counsel from a friend, facing down the issue, getting professional help, owning the problem, changing to a mindset of thankfulness, being willing to let go of bitterness, forgive someone, or something else.  If you see the issue, pray about the issue, and be open to taking the steps that come to you through that process.

Psalms 55:22
Cast your burden on the Lord,
And He shall sustain you;
He shall never permit the righteous to be moved.

God knows you inside and out.  He wants the best for you.  He wants to help you overcome your struggles and become the complete people He envisions that you can become.  Your journey is open before Him, and He knows that you feel like you are wandering sometimes.  He is acquainted with your sufferings. Nothing gets by Him unnoticed about you.

Psalms 56:8
You number my wanderings;
Put my tears into Your bottle;
Are they not in Your book?

We have to trust God that he has a solution.  It’s probably not apparent right now, but it’s out there, and we have to keep pressing in to God, and following the path of growth wherever it might lead.  It’s so easy to focus on the problem and feel helpless, however it is helpful to change gears in our minds and think about the promises God has for us.

Lean into God. Put your weight on Him. He can hold you.

Psalms 57:1
Be merciful to me, O God, be merciful to me!
For my soul trusts in You;
And in the shadow of Your wings I will make my refuge,
Until these calamities have passed by.
