This is a favorite song of mine by Alison Brook, a singer/songwriter friend of mine from Michigan.

Nearer My God to Thee strikes a chord with me as I’ve already posted versions by Fernando Ortega and Vocal Point and the Piano Guys.  It works through the story of Jacob.  It captures the angst and pathos of being in a difficult situation and realizing that God has a plan in it all and that we’re not alone.  It also helps orient the thoughts back to the core desire of needing to be closer to God.
